Homemade Guacamole

I almost forgot the best part of game day! Appetizers. Avocados, for the second time today! This is a delicious homemade guac that we make whenever we have company.

2 avocados
1 tomato (vine ripe)
1 jalapeño (If you don't like spicy, omit the seeds and ribs)
the juice of 1/2 of a lime
fresh cilantro
1/2 red onion
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Mash avocado. We use a mortar and pestle (molcajete) instead of putting it in a blender.
Finely chop tomato, onion, and jalapeño. Combine with avocado.
Add lime juice, cilantro, salt and pepper. Mix together.

You can pair this dip with any kind of veggies (carrots, cucumbers, celery, etc.). You can also use it as a sandwich spread, top a salad with it, or slice up some pita bread triangles and use those. And of course, you can't forget chips! My favorite chips to pair it with are the whole grain tostito chips. To me, they have way more flavor than the original ones.
